What is a self-serve DSP?
A self-serve demand-side platform lets agencies and brands plan, launch, and optimize programmatic campaigns themselves without renting a trading desk or hitting enterprise minimums.
A self-serve DSP (demand-side platform) is software you operate yourself to buy programmatic inventory (CTV, display, video, audio, native, and more) with your team in control of targeting, budgets, and pacing.
You are not handing the book to a managed desk that returns a monthly PDF. You are trafficking and optimizing inside a seat your operators own day to day.
Self-serve vs managed vs white-label
Self-serve means your operators traffic and optimize. Managed service means someone else runs inside their seat. White-label means the self-serve (or managed) experience is branded as yours for clients.
Waveband is a self-serve buying seat that also white-labels end to end, not a middleware layer over other platforms. You get the seat, the take rate schedule, and the portals under your brand.

What you actually operate
A real seat includes campaigns, line items, creatives, deals, reporting, and billing. If any of those live in a separate "please file a ticket" workflow, you are closer to managed service with a UI skin.
Waveband puts CTV, display, video, audio, and DOOH on one console. Formats like Waveforms and Soundframe traffic beside the rest of the book. Signal gives you first-party measurement you can export.
- Operators traffic and optimize (not a managed desk by default)
- Multi-channel seat: CTV, display, video, audio, DOOH
- Published take rates instead of opaque negotiated spreads
- White-label portals when clients should see your brand
- Optional Autopilot and MCP; not required to buy media

Who it fits
Independent agencies and in-house teams that want channel access without enterprise minimums, opaque fees, or giving up decision rights.
If you need agents later, optional MCP connects under spend ceilings. It is not required to buy media. Start free, prove the workflow, then scale spend.
What to ask before you pick one
Ask about spend minimums, whether CTV shares the seat with display and audio, whether measurement is first-party or only platform-attested, and whether fees are a published take rate or a black box.
Compare against Waveband's pricing page using your real monthly media, not a demo CPM. If the vendor cannot show all-in fee as a percent of gross media, keep asking.
Self-serve does not mean unsupported
Self-serve means you hold the controls. It does not mean a ticket void when something breaks. Look for real humans, docs that match the product, and an API when you outgrow click-ops.
Waveband publishes docs for tracking, Waveforms, Soundframe, Autopilot, and MCP. Use what you need. Leave the rest off.
